All books reviewed by The Book Fiend are either purchased, borrowed from the library or given to me by the publisher/author for the purpose of a review. I don't receive financial compensation for the reviews I provide. I review books because I enjoy reading and sharing my passion with others.
To me, in this techno world, book review blogging is similar to the informal word of mouth sharing of information. I take my reviews seriously, often taking notes as I read. My reviews are honest, and from the heart, no different than if I was discussing the book with a friend or colleague. It's my goal to be fair, to discuss positive and negative aspects of the story, and give examples to back up my claims. I post my reviews on Shelfari, Goodreads and online for my local library.

I enjoy reading speculative, contemporary, and historical fiction, mysteries, thrillers and some non-fiction thrown in to keep it real. Although young adult is not a genre, I do enjoy reading young adult novels with mature themes.
If pressed to name my favorite genre, I'd have to say fantasy with a tinge of romance ; )
If I agree to review a novel, please allow at least four to six weeks for reading and review preparation.
